In the year 2010, opportunities started to spark up for Alpha. He was chosen to represent his country at the eighth edition of the Basketball without Borders Africa camp held in Dakar, Senegal.
It was the first time the African edition of the NBA and FIBA’s global basketball development and community outreach program was held there.
The camp consisted of 54 players from different countries in Africa. Numerous number of NBA players and coaches were in attendance.
The following year of 2011, Alpha and two other Tanzanians, were selected to represent their country in the United states for the NBA Sprite Slam Basketball Tour.
The two week visit landed them in the states of Tennessee and District of Columbia were them and a group of 12 other from different respective countries in Africa namely Angola, Kenya, Uganda and Mozambique, got an opportunity to showcase their skills against numerous high school teams.
