The year 2012 was really special for Alpha. He got the opportunity to be recruited by Memorial University (Canada) to pursue his bachelor’s degree and join their men's basketball program.

It was all made possible as the head coach of the university (MUN) made a visit to his hometown of Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania and held a week long basketball camp, were Alpha got selected among a group of 45 other campers with similar hopes and aspirations.

As lightly as it can be seen and taken by most, that opportunity was a real stepping stone and a dream come true for him. Growing up in Tanzania where opportunities like that are more rare than usual, nothing could be taken for granted.
